MOUTH SORES Dental health is not limited to your teeth. Sores or irritations can develop in and around the mouth. These sores can appear on any of the soft tissues of your mouth, including your lips, cheeks, gums, tongue, and floor and roof of your mouth. Fortunately, they usually heal on their own within a week or two. MOUTH SORES come in several different varieties and can have any number of causes, including: • Infections from bacteria, viruses or fungus • Irritation from a loose orthodontic wire, a denture that doesn’t fit, or a sharp edge from a broken tooth or filling. • The symptom of a disease or disorder. Your dentist should examine any mouth sore that lasts a week or longer. |Dental Clinic In Vadodara| Dental Implants Vadodara| |Best Dentist In Vadodara| www.upadhyaydentalvadodara.com
Dental caries or cavities is a breakdown of teeth due to acids produced by bacteria. The cavities may be of different colors from yellow to black. Symptoms may include pain and difficulty with eating and food lodgment (accumulation of food within cavity) Dental caries is caused by the action of acids on the tooth surface. The acid is produced when sugars (mainly sucrose) in foods or drinks react with bacteria present in the dental biofilm (plaque) on the tooth surface. Dental caries is a transmissible bacterial disease, a process caused by acids from bacterial metabolism diffusing into enamel and dentine and dissolving the minerals. The caries is a process which results from many cycles of demineralization and re-mineralization. Brush your teeth at least twice a day with fluoride-containing toothpaste especially before going to bed. Clean between your teeth also, daily with a dental floss or interdental cleaners, such as the Oral-B Interdental Brush, Reach Stim-U-Dent, or Sulcabrush. www.upadhyaydentalvadodara.com For more info visit us at http://dentistinvadodara.in/-Dental-caries-or-cavities-is-a-breakdown-of-teeth-due-to-acids-produced-by-bacteria-The-cavities-may-be-of-different-co/b101

Teeth cleaning (also known as prophylaxis/scaling, literally a preventive treatment of a disease) is a procedure for the removal of tartar and plaque (mineralized plaque) that may develop even with careful brushing and flossing, especially in areas that are difficult to reach in routine tooth brushing. It is often done by a dental hygienist. Professional cleaning includes scaling, polishing and debridement if too much tartar has accumulated. This involves the use of various hand instruments or automated devices to loosen and remove deposits from the teeth. "The research evidence is not of sufficient quality to reach any conclusions regarding the beneficial and adverse effects of routine scaling and polishing for periodontal health and regarding the effects of providing this intervention at different time intervals". Thus, any general recommendation for a frequency of routine cleaning (e.g. every six months, every year) has no empirical basis. Most dental hygienists recommend having the teeth professionally cleaned every six months. More frequent cleaning and examination may be necessary during treatment of dental and other oral disorders. Routine examination of the teeth is recommended at least every year. Good oral hygiene helps to prevent cavities, tartar build-up, and gum disease. www.upadhyaydentalvadodara.com
Everyday we see patients that have missing teeth. Sometimes they are teeth that have been recently extracted. Other times they have been missing for years. Tooth loss can lead to reduced self confidence because of gaps in a person’s smile. Teeth are lost or missing for several reasons such as trauma, decay, periodontal disease, or even genetics. It is important to replace missing teeth because when a tooth is missing there is no contact with the opposing arch. This can cause opposing teeth to gradually extrude which leads to other problem, such as fractures, mobility, tooth loss, shifting in surrounding teeth, and gum problems. The 3 most common options are replacing the missing teeth with implants, crowns and bridges or dentures. Sometimes a combination of two of these options can be used, such as a denture that is supported by implants, or a bridge that is supported by implants. “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure”, so whenever possible try to avoid loosing the tooth in the first place. The financial cost of saving a tooth with a crown or even a crown and a root canal is substantially less than the cost of an implant and crown or a bridge. Not to mention that by saving one tooth, you are also helping keep the surrounding ones healthy as well. www.upadhyaydentalvadodara.com
