BABY BOTTLE TOOTH DECAY Tooth decay in infants and toddlers is often referred to as BABY BOTTLE TOOTH DECAY or Early Childhood Caries. What Causes Baby Bottle Tooth Decay? Baby Bottle Tooth Decay most often occurs in the upper front teeth, but other teeth may also be affected. One common cause is the frequent, prolonged exposure of the baby’s teeth to drinks that contain sugar. Tooth decay can occur when the baby is put to bed with a bottle. Preventing Baby Bottle Tooth Decay • Try not to share saliva with the baby through common use of feeding spoons or licking pacifiers. After each feeding, wipe your child’s gums with a clean, damp gauze pad or washcloth. • When your child’s teeth come in, brush them gently with a child-size toothbrush and smear of fluoride toothpaste until the age of 3. • Place only formula, milk or breast milk in bottles. Avoid filling the bottle with liquids such as sugar water, juice or soft drinks. • Infants should finish their bedtime and nap time bottles before going to bed. • Encourage your child to drink from a cup by his/her first birthday. • Encourage healthy eating habits. |Dental Clinic In Vadodara| |Dental Implants Vadodara| |Best Dentist In Vadodara| www.upadhyaydentalvadodara.com
It is common for children to use more toothpaste on the toothbrush than what is needed or what is in the child’s best interests. Too much toothpaste increases the chances of your child consuming too much fluoride. www.upadhyaydentalvadodara.com For more info visit us at http://dentistinvadodara.in/It-is-common-for-children-to-use-more-toothpaste-on-the-toothbrush-than-what-is-needed-or-what-is-in-the-child-s-best-in/b85
Dental fluorosis (also termed mottled enamel) is an extremely common disorder, characterized by hypo mineralization of tooth enamel caused by ingestion of excessive fluoride during enamel formation. In moderate to severe fluorosis, teeth are physically damaged. Teeth affected by fluorosis are not diseased. Fluorosis will not result in cavities or other dental problems. Most of the fluorosis treatment are aimed at masking the stains. Concerns about appearance can be addressed with whitening to remove surface stains and veneers or other procedures to cover the discoloration. In skeletal fluorosis, fluoride accumulates in the bone progressively over many years. The early symptoms of skeletal fluorosis, include stiffness and pain in the joints. In severe cases, the bone structure may change and ligaments may calcify, with resulting impairment of muscles and pain. www.upadhyaydentalvadodara.com For more info visit us at http://dentistinvadodara.in/Dental-fluorosis-also-termed-mottled-enamel-is-an-extremely-common-disorder-characterized-by-hypo-mineralization-of-toot/b93

Everyday we see patients that have missing teeth. Sometimes they are teeth that have been recently extracted. Other times they have been missing for years. Tooth loss can lead to reduced self confidence because of gaps in a person’s smile. Teeth are lost or missing for several reasons such as trauma, decay, periodontal disease, or even genetics. It is important to replace missing teeth because when a tooth is missing there is no contact with the opposing arch. This can cause opposing teeth to gradually extrude which leads to other problem, such as fractures, mobility, tooth loss, shifting in surrounding teeth, and gum problems. The 3 most common options are replacing the missing teeth with implants, crowns and bridges or dentures. Sometimes a combination of two of these options can be used, such as a denture that is supported by implants, or a bridge that is supported by implants. “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure”, so whenever possible try to avoid loosing the tooth in the first place. The financial cost of saving a tooth with a crown or even a crown and a root canal is substantially less than the cost of an implant and crown or a bridge. Not to mention that by saving one tooth, you are also helping keep the surrounding ones healthy as well. www.upadhyaydentalvadodara.com

Dental caries or cavities is a breakdown of teeth due to acids produced by bacteria. The cavities may be of different colors from yellow to black. Symptoms may include pain and difficulty with eating and food lodgment (accumulation of food within cavity) Dental caries is caused by the action of acids on the tooth surface. The acid is produced when sugars (mainly sucrose) in foods or drinks react with bacteria present in the dental biofilm (plaque) on the tooth surface. Dental caries is a transmissible bacterial disease, a process caused by acids from bacterial metabolism diffusing into enamel and dentine and dissolving the minerals. The caries is a process which results from many cycles of demineralization and re-mineralization. Brush your teeth at least twice a day with fluoride-containing toothpaste especially before going to bed. Clean between your teeth also, daily with a dental floss or interdental cleaners, such as the Oral-B Interdental Brush, Reach Stim-U-Dent, or Sulcabrush. www.upadhyaydentalvadodara.com
